About Jasmine Yoga Tynemouth
We are privileged to practice our yoga at Tynemouth Sailing Club on The Haven beach next to Tynemouth Priory. Enjoying exquisite views across the sea, we practice both inside and on our spacious roof terrace. The studio is easily accessible with parking directly outside and a large free car park close by.
At Jasmine Yoga we are committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment regardless of your yoga experience. The local surroundings play a huge part in our yoga classes; the sounds of the sea, soothing music and candles bring a sense of peace and calm to our practice. During the summer months and during our early morning dawn classes we practice outdoors.
Our Timetable includes strong Vinyasa Flow, Hatha Power, gentle stretching classes integrating Yin poses, and early morning roof practice (in warm weather). We also offer creative styles such as Power & Peace, which is a fusion of yoga and chi gong . Complete beginners are invited to start their yoga journey as well as those who practice regularly. Our regular extended classes and special weekend events promote a sense of friendship and fun in our yoga community.

Benefits of Yoga
At Jasmine Yoga we practice a range of yoga styles. As a beginner you will learn a range of yoga postures, building to flowing sequences with an emphasis on breath to movement. The classes vary in intensity so whatever your experience and particular interest, you will find a practice that feels satisfying.
Unlike other forms of exercise, yoga is non- competitive, offering a truly personal practice whatever your ability in a warm and respectful environment.

There are far reaching physical, mental and emotional benefits to be enjoyed and gained from regular yoga practice. It particularly enhances strength, flexibility, coordination and balance.
Regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains, particularly lower back pain. Yogis often report significant improvements in joint mobility and general flexibility. Improved flexibility is one of the first and most obvious benefits of yoga. During your first class, you may not even be able to touch your toes, However, you'll soon notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, seemingly impossible poses will become possible. You'll also probably notice that aches and pains dissolve away
Yoga improves your circulation by increasing the blood flow round your body, increasing oxygen to your cells.
For athletes and those who like to benefit from deep stretching, we offer a weekly Yin class. This places emphasis on holding long passive stretches for up to five minutes. This class is very popular with those who participate in regular energetic sport. The quiet style of Yin yoga can bring its own challenges particularly in quietening a busy mind, but once achieved, this can feel extremely satisfying and calming.
Emotional and Mental Wellbeing Benefits
In addition to physical benefits, most yogis also experience significant improvements in mental and emotional well-being. It can help ease depression, low mood and anxiety, it can calm a busy hectic mind, and bring a sense of balance and tranquility.
Yoga can also have a significant impact on your self - esteem. The yoga philosophy teaches us to accept and respect ourselves and others As you notice your body gaining in strength and flexibility, and you begin to feel calmer and more balanced, you may experience much greater self -love and acceptance.
We offer Restorative Yoga and Gentle Flow classes which bring a calm and peaceful practice, to ease the mind while gently stretching the body, in a thoughtful relaxed environment, including blankets, bolsters and soft music.

Hello, I'm Jo, I launched Jasmine Yoga in January 2017, with an ethos of 'yoga for everyone' irrespective of age, gender, ability. I'm committed to ensuring that everyone who comes to the Jasmine Yoga mat is warmly welcomed and encouraged to flourish in self-confidence, strength and flexibility. It's so important that we not only practice developing our physical self but also our mental and emotional self. Your time at Jasmine Yoga should be special. I place value on the importance of creating a warm and nurturing environment, so that everyone who comes to the mat has an experience that's more than moving through yoga postures. Community, acceptance and inclusivity are part of the guiding principles of Jasmine Yoga. We involve the local environment and community wherever possible, including regular social events and fundraising.
When I'm not practicing yoga I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to take long walks along the beautiful coastline and I also enjoy arts and crafts which sometimes find their way to the yoga studio!!
